Fast fashion
is all about making the most amount of clothes, for the largest audience, in the quickest amount of time. It is centered around convenience and the objective of making as much money as possible, from as many people as possible.
Fast fashion brands create new styles almost weekly (some daily) in order to keep up with emerging trends.
How do I know if a brand is “fast fashion”?
The Qualifiers:
New collections or items released weekly or even daily
Low quality (items mainly made of polyester, acrylic, rayon, or nylon)
Make and ship time is extremely fast
Little to no info on where clothes are made, what materials are used, and workers’ rights
“Dupes” (Items that look similar to designer or upscale designs)
